The Children’s Advocacy Center exists to provide a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to the problem of child abuse in our community. We aspire to reduce trauma, seek justice, and foster healing and empowerment to child victims of abuse and their non-offending families and caregivers.
Working closely with private and community partners, the CAC ensures coordinated services and prompt, sensitive and effective responses which put the needs of child victims of abuse first. Our work extends to educating communities in recognizing, reporting and the prevention of child abuse, supporting successful prosecution of those who perpetrate crimes against children and providing young victims and their non-offending family members the sustained specialized therapeutic support they need to heal.
The Children’s Advocacy Center is nationally accredited and one of more than 70 across Texas, and is a registered nonprofit charitable organization funded by grants and donations. More than half of our funding comes from the federal, state and local governments with the remainder from local fundraising activities, foundation and corporate grants, and the generosity of individual donors. We’ve been a part of the community since 1992, and our services are bilingual and free of charge.
The Children’s Advocacy Center serves as the central hub to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), a skilled team of professionals comprised of members numerous organizations, including law enforcement, social services, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy personnel. The MDT work together in the investigation, treatment, management, and prosecution of child abuse cases.
Individuals, groups, and business donations, whether financial or otherwise, significantly boost the ability of the Children’s Advocacy Center to fulfill its mission for the communities we serve. These contributions, along with sponsorships and special event proceeds, drive the scope, quality and capabilities of the Center’s programs beyond what might be possible with federal, state and local government funding alone.
