Child abuse is an uncomfortable topic that most people avoid. It draws attention to how vulnerable we are as parents and as communities. But just imagine what we could do if we talked openly about this epidemic. Not sure child abuse is really an epidemic?
It is estimated that 1,000,000 children are victims of child maltreatment each year in the United States alone.
Not talking about child abuse is also an epidemic. So let's break the silence and talk about it.
It's the first step in healing, and that's what we do here at the Children's Advocacy Center. During 2007, we brought hope and healing to more than 800 children and their non-offending family members in our communities of Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties.
Parents, let us give you the tools you need to protect your children; and, let us give you the words to help you talk with your children about how to stay safe. It's empowering.
Leaders in community groups, schools, corporations, places of worship - give us a forum... Invite us in to speak to your group. Yes, it's uncomfortable at first. But isn't it the least we can do for our kids?
Request a speaker for your community group, corporation or place of worship. 20 minutes is all we ask to help you and your group empower yourselves against child abuse. To learn more about the Advocacy Center's education programs, please select from the list below.
